Do you use Lauramide DEA (diethanolamine) and Cocamide DEA (diethanolamine) ? No we do not use neither of the ingredients View FDA's info

Do you use SLS, SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), ALS (Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate), Cocomide MEA, Lauramide DEA? No we do not. We use mild surfactants called Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Coco Glucosides.

Do you use preservatives Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone? No we do not.

Does SLS cause cancer? Please view Cosmetic Ingredient Review's article.

Do you disclose all of the ingredients, just active ingredients or what you think looks good on the label? As a holistic and earth friendly small dog grooming company, we are proud to disclose our product ingredients Although FDA does not impose any rules on cosmetic products intended for use on animals, we disclose all of the ingredients we use in our canine products. We do not use general terms such as "coconut derived", but list our ingredients by their INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) names. This is our choice and according to FDA not all companies have to disclose pet cosmetic ingredients they use.

However the use of terms such as "mild coconut and glucose based cleanser, coconut derived, macadamia nut based, herbal conditioner base, coconut cleaner base" is not appropriate as you the consumer will never know the INCI name of that ingredient.

Did you know? Coconut Oil derived/based cleanser base on that label can be :

  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
  • Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS)
  • Cocomidopropyl Betaine
  • Cocomide MEA
  • Cocamide DEA
  • Lauramide DEA

If you want to be sure of the ingredients which you use on your canine friend, you should feel free to ask the manufacturer about the ingredients. Compare product ingredients and the manufacturer responses and than you can decide what is good enough for your dog, woof!

Can I see the FDA statement about the pet grooming regulations? Yes of course. Visit FDA's site about pet grooming regulations.

What does pH stand for? p(otential of) H(ydrogen); the logarithm of the reciprocal of hydrogen-ion concentration in gram atoms per liter; used as a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a scale of 0-14

AROMATHERAPY INFO
What is Aromatherapy? Aromatherapy is the true art of using plant oils for complementary care.

Can I use Essential Oils internally? Not unless prescribed by your canine's holistic vet! As with all medication or treatment proper dose is the key to everything. If in doubt always ask your insured and state licensed holistic vet.

Can I use aromatherapy (essential oils, hydrosols) on my cats, bird etc.? Aromatherapy safety and what not to do when using aromatherapy and aromatherapy products on some pets.

Hydrosol, what's that? Hydrosol is also called hydrolat. Hydrosol is the water that is collected when plants are distilled to make essential oil. Hydrosols are extremely gentle therefore can be used on puppies or canines with skin allergies, pregnant females or older dogs.

What's an EO, absolute, resin and extract anyway?
a) EO is short for Essential Oil. Essence is made in plants by special cells and only becomes an essential oil after distillation. EOs are volatile and are either distilled (steam, water) or expressed.
b) Absolute is a highly concentrated, alcohol-soluble perfume material and are obtained by alcohol extraction of concretes.

c) Resins are formed in Nature (from trees, plants etc) by oxidation of terpens. The natural resin can be solid or semisolid . The processed resin is called "Oleoresin".

d) Extract are created by processing a raw material with a solvent and can be used both in medicine as well as the perfume industry.

Which essential oils and absolutes do you use? We use human grade organic or wildcrafted therapeutic essential oils, please read further.

Why do you use essential oils and absolutes? We use essential oils and absolutes to lightly scent our product the natural and botanical way. We do not use synthetic fragrance oils (essence of)!

Can Aromatherapy or other Herbal grooming products cure my or my dogs problems? Unfortunately the answer is no! Herbs, aromatherapy and the use of any other botanicals should not be looked at as a cure it all and should be embraced as a lifestyle. They are there to complete and compliment your family's health and needs to be respected and used with care as you would all treatments.

What does Holistic mean? In short holism is a theory or belief emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts - American Heritage Dictionary, 3rd Edition.
